Stob Coire an Laoigh

A week based in Fort William started with the ascent of Stob Coire an Laoigh. The weather threatened a bit of a soggy day, but in reality we were very fortunate weather-wise. Other than some mist, we were treated to some pretty good walking weather.

We chose to walk the first 3km along the disused tramway as opposed to through the woods, and we were glad we did. The remaining bridges and tracks from the old "Puggy Line" made for a very interesting walk. It wasn't until the end of the tramway that the ascent really started.

A pretty long and steady climb up grassy slopes sapped a fair amount of energy out of the legs, but once things eased off we made good progress to the Grey Corries ridge. The final section was narrow and rocky; not too much of a problem on the way out as the mist kept the long drops hidden. However on the way back the mist cleared, and whilst the views were spectacular, the narrow ridge and steep cliffs didn't thrill everyone!

Another one ticked off, and hope was building that we'd get to the finish line by the end of the week.
